Environment Secretary tells the Commons that new incinerators "should not be needed"

The Keighley News reported today on a debate in the House of Commons, in which Dr Therese Coffey, the environment minister, stated that incinerators like the one proposed by Endless Energy on the site of the former gasworks at Marley in the Aire valley "should not be needed" if recycling targets are met.

The Keighley and Ilkey Green Party are among the many groups and individuals who have expressed their opposition to the scheme, both because of pollution issues and because there is no need for more waste incinerators of this type. The Environment agency are still carrying out their assessment.
