Local Community Choirs Brought Together by Janet Russell to Lay White Wreath at Bradford Cenotaph

The remembrance ceremony on Sunday 11th November at Bradford Cenotaph (Bradford University has a department for Peace Studies founded by former university chancellor Ted Edwards) was introduced by Cath from Yorkshire CND. There were white wreaths laid by representatives of the Quaker movement, Veterans for Peace, the Peace Pledge Union, and by three community choirs singing peace songs and commemorating conscientious objectors, Silsden Singers, Settle Voices, and East Lancs. Tony Charnock and Rahel (from the Topic folk club in Bradford) were singing "Into the Sun" by Roger Davies as the sun broke through - perfect !! There were more than thirty singers brought together by Janet Russell, community choir leader and coordinator of Keighley and Ilkley Green Party.
